You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Matthew 5: 14-16 ___
I work. I have been "ordained" a teacher. It took me many years to realise what my "light" was that I was called to share with others. I need to ensure that my work as a teacher is always the best possible example and the example of "teacher" that we are given in the Bible was none other than the Lord, Jesus. Huge sandals to fill! Compassionate, patient, nonjudgemental, gentle, forgiving, hopeful, loving, generous...just a few of the traits of the "teacher", Jesus. Can I do it? Do I try every day? My vocation demands it.
President and Mrs. Carter have made it their life's mission to serve the poorest of the poor around the world and at home. (Atlanta, GA 11/11)
In my vocation, I must shine as brightly as God expects me to. I need to remember who I am called to serve. I need to represent the best role model of "teacher" we have ever had...Jesus.
